Internship In Palestine (1-3 months): The Internship in Palestine Program offers international participants the chance to immerse themselves in Palestinian culture and daily life, as well as learn about human rights, Palestinian refugee situations, and politics in Hebron, West Bank. The internship program involves participating in a highly respected community development initiative run by Go Middle East. To facilitate a deep cultural experience, the Center organizes visits to various institutions, including both Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and governmental organizations, factories, and Palestinian refugee camps in Hebron, West Bank.

This firsthand exposure provides an exciting opportunity for interns to gain insight into daily life in Palestine. The program offers a range of internships at the Center to cater to different interests and career goals. In addition, interns enrolled in the Internship in Palestine program have the option to study either Modern Standard Arabic or Ammiya (spoken Arabic dialects). They can also acquire transferable skills, interact with Palestinian locals, reside with a Palestinian host family, and gain a deeper understanding of the rich Palestinian culture.

2. Teach English & Study Arabic (1-13 Weeks)

Teach English & Study Arabic (1-13 Weeks): The Teach English in Palestine and Study Arabic Program is for all native and non-native English speakers. If you’re an undergraduate, graduate, professional, or retired individual looking for an English teaching opportunity in the West Bank, Israel, the Middle East, or wider Arabic world, this program is for you. By living in Hebron, Palestine, for the duration of your volunteering at Go Middle East, you will be able to meet a variety of people, help Palestinian refugees, and teach English to children and community members, whilst also studying Levantine Arabic as part of your schedule.

This internship is designed for individuals looking for a unique, short-term English teaching position; one which allows you to be immersed in Palestinian culture, politics, and daily life whilst teaching community members aged 12+ on either a one-on-one basis, in small groups of 2-5, or in larger groups of 15-20 safely and sustainably. As well as for those who have taught English as a foreign language, our program is also an amazing internship for those who have had NO prior experience in teaching English and want to explore the role in depth. Suppose you wish to teach in villages and refugee camps in areas such as Jerusalem, Haifa, Jaffa, Tel Aviv, Ramallah, Nablus, Palestine, or Israel in general. In that case, this program is ideal, particularly as our students are eager and keen to meet new people, learn conversational English, and familiarize themselves with other cultures.

3. Teach English for Palestine Program

Teach English for Palestine Program (for English Teachers): This program is a teaching internship program designed for graduate English students and certified English teachers (TEFL, TESOL, or CELTA qualified) to share their pedagogical expertise with local inhabitants of Hebron, Palestinian children, youth and Palestinian refugees in the surrounding area, in the West Bank, Palestine. This teaching English opportunity is perfectly suited for anyone pursuing a career as an English language teacher, possessing an interest in Arabic culture, and wanting to travel to the Israel/Palestine area of the Middle East.  This Program differs from other English Teaching Programs run by the Center, and it offers a teaching opportunity specifically for qualified English teachers.

There are many qualified ESL teachers, and this program is an opportunity to teach abroad in the West Bank. As a qualified teacher, we value your expertise, and as such, you will enjoy all the benefits of our other programs: 3 hours a week Arabic Lessons, accommodation provided by the Center, cultural tours in the local area, but all for a much reduced rate of 250 Euro a month.  This program of English Language tuition provides international English teachers the opportunity to live in Hebron, Palestine, by working through Go Middle East. A core mission of Go Middle East is to provide Palestinian children, youth, and refugees the resources necessary to gain English language proficiency and professional skills, and international English teachers play a crucial role in achieving this goal.

Volunteer To Write About Palestine (1-3 Months): The Volunteer to Write Articles about Palestine Program is designed for participants with a background and interest in journalism, reporting, and recording in various formats, with an interest in telling human stories. This program not only allows but also encourages participants to immerse themselves in Palestinian culture, forming connections with the residents around Hebron. At Go Middle East, we welcome people, whatever their views on the situation between Israel and Palestine. We encourage reporting of the Center to be fair and unbiased; to tell the stories of the people who live in Hebron and the work of the Center.

Whereas media coverage of Israel and Palestine focuses on the ongoing conflict and relationship between the parties, writing articles with the Go Middle East will allow you to experience and recount the experiences and everyday life of local residents and communities. International communication is important for many Palestinians, who simply want to feel connected to and recognized by the international community. Connecting with people internationally in a friendly and honest way is a cornerstone on which Go Middle East in Hebron, West Bank, Palestine, is based. As such, we are constantly seeking people who are able to write critically and clearly about the many different activities occurring at the Center, as well as the experience of living in Hebron and the West Bank, Palestine, and about Palestinian refugees’ lives in and around Hebron.
